1) I’m going to lose my home most likely.

2) Maybe if I’m lucky I’ll get an apartment or basement in a sketchy area (maybe).

3) I can’t afford car payments on unemployment benefits let alone pay bills or buy food for my family.

4) Flight instruction is BS because it is chump change and people aren’t spending in the current environment even if you teach full time.

5) We can’t afford daycare on one income and family is too far away to help watch the baby.

6) We basically have no health insurance (COBRA yeah whatever) so we can’t even get our baby checkups or vaccinations needed which renders her susceptible to infection or illness.

7) 26 job applications to 135 carriers and either its rejections or “we’re not hiring” and other jobs either don’t pay enough to survive or aren’t hiring.

8) Credit shot to s— because you either make late payments or no payments because your savings are being depleted or have been depleted.

9) Can’t go back to school because it involves more debt and no income.

10) The idiots in DC can’t seem to agree on a stimulus because of their political differences thereby screwing the very people who put them in office and who they are supposed to look after.

This the reality some of us are facing so forgive me if I don’t really care whether or not AW survives because they don’t really care if we do either.

As for a recall in the spring, as with all things AW I’ll believe it when it happens and I’m bailing the moment I find a job be it aviation or non-aviation related.

The irony? People I know who failed in training and got the boot are now in 135 carriers flying and making more money than a second year FO at AW.

Flying isn’t a dream anymore, it’s a nightmare and that’s the reality.

Don’t mean to sound grim but this is the life we live.

This is the stuff they need to read in Washington. This is really bad and I believe, unnecessary. We can and should be doing better.

No one is asking for empathy. It’s just a fact. The jets weren’t and still aren’t shiny. Many people hopped on the bandwagon of being an airline pilot without understanding the risks of the career involved.

So I’m pretty sure others got this too but I just opened up my mail for health insurance and the COBRA program is $2,500 per month for a family.

I guess we have $2,500 to throw out the window now right?

So I guess we’ll just stay un-insured and ask for for a miracle or death when one of us gets really sick and can’t afford medical attention.

It's quite sad and unfortunate but they're ruthless. It's either you look into Medicare or maybe pick some non aviation job with some medical benefits for the time being. I'm personally looking into working at Target. They've got some good medical coverage for employees.

Look into some of the ACA plans available on the marketplace. Whiskey was paying 75% of the health insurance premiums, carrying that same plan is going to be incredibly expensive.

Remember this next industry up cycle during contract negotiations when management offers a 1-2% ‘raise’ in exchange for a ‘more modern, industry standard’ menu of health insurance options.

I don’t think that would ever change here, it’s an absolute non-starter to almost everyone except some of the former military pilots and single just out of college people.

the number of people I’ve come across who think rates are the end all / be all of contracts is concerning.

My cobra is $789. I'm 33 and healthy. It's not in the budget. But being furloughed I do qualify for "special enrollment" in the ACA. And after filling out a questionnaire I was able to get a tax credit of $300 pre-applied to my health care.

The story of our college potentially loosing his house and facing other hardships is upsetting. I feel some but not all of your pain. Wish you and your family the best.

Looks like SkyWest is getting 21 550's. Great for them, but too bad we couldn't get those aircraft/hours.

Skywest isn't flying them, they are leasing them to another expressjet carrier.

“SkyWest also secured agreements to acquire 21 used CRJ700s in a 50-seat configuration and lease the aircraft under a multi-year term to another regional airline operating for United Airlines. The aircraft purchases and leases are expected to be completed in Q4 2020.”

https://www.kpvi.com/news/regional_n...c6902e71a.html

Which United regional are these 21 planes going to?

PossibleDeviation 10-31-2020 07:28 AM

Nothing official has been released but from what I have gathered we are leasing them right back to G7

my understanding is those planes were owned by G7, gojet needed money so skywest bought them and leased them back to gojet.

Sculprit 10-31-2020 10:18 AM

The planes are already at GoJet. GoJet can’t afford them so sold the planes to OO who is in turn leasing them back to GoJet.

They have the funds to convert them.

I'm not sure it was strictly because they couldn't afford them. They sold the planes to Skywest in order to gain a cash infusion to keep the operation running.
Maybe having the cash on hand was to avoid something in the short term like bankruptcy? Which doesn't bode well with investors.
I'm no economist, but it sounds like a smart move.

What is public knowledge is that:
1. Compass shut down this year
2. Trans States shut down this year
3. SkyWest was going to lease 29 CRJ700 airframes to GoJet, but GoJet had to return three and could not accept the remaining 13 due to financial issues. This is per the SkyWest earnings statement.
4. Now SkyWest is purchasing 21 airframes from GoJet and leasing them back to them.

Everything else is speculation from the evidence and clues.

Just my opinion
But wait till you discover that Covid is just the Flu on steroids and will recur every year as well. Then comes the realization that vaccines will never be developed as in the case of Sars - unable.
Finally, the ultimate kicker - this whole event is a setup to set up one world gov't after breaking everyone's political will and bank account. Money will be printed into oblivion and people will cry uncle in hopes for enough food to survive.

On the old Mad Dogs, the far rear restroom, exclusively for the FA (next to the stairs) was removed to add extra tank capacity for the Chemtrails.
