Thats EXACTLY what I was thinking, then I read your post.

Ive been outta AWAC almost a year now...is it normal for you guys to be landing with less than 3000lbs? That wasnt the case when I was there.

1400LB burn BUF-BOS.....Pshhhhhh thats a burn from PHL-LGA.....its almost 350NM straight line!! I dont think you could do that at 50% N1 with a 160KT tailwind

wasnt 1900lbs 45 min rsv?? I dont think I ever did that flight in less than 45 mins...and i did the BOS-BUF shuttle A LOT

We are currently planned to arrive with around 2900. But sometimes it's been less than that. Frequently in fact. The new fuel saving initiative is not without merit but has the potential to go very bad someday.

As so someone who would not even attempt to follow it? Hmm..... We don't really have enough fuel to NOT follow it. I follow it when possible and reasonable.

Who cares how many hours anybody has? I have 4000 hrs in the rj, 5.5 yrs at AWAC. It's this simple: cpt says start 1, I start 1/cpt says start 2, I start 2. If I ever get questioned, easy answer "capt should know the books better than me, hence the 40% higher pay. He wanted me to do it." unless it's illegal or unsafe, I couldn't give 2 sheets what he wants to do. Want me to care? Pay me for saving gas, I'll make the rj a flying refinery

There's a big difference between CRM (questioning me because I make mistakes or maybe didn't see something or someone has a possible better suggestion) and questioning someone's competence or judgement.

I am totally open to suggestions and I have F/Os who are better than I am and smarter than I am all the time. If they have something to offer I want them to speak up. If they are just going to second guess everything it's a totally different story.

Rumor I hear is 1600 for 45 min reserve now with another 900 pounds for extra "mom and the kids" fuel making a total planned landing before unexpected circumstances of 2450 pounds +/-.

I'm a new hire trying to get a good jump on the basics. I'm looking for some good systems gouge or anything else that has been passed down through the years. Ground school starts on April 9th. I've got the limitation & FAR 121 regs. But I'll take anything! Systems, Flows....

Thanks,

That sounds right. PSA just started the new fuel program as well. 45mins of fuel at FL250 plus 900 lbs of tanker. I see a lot of 1400-1600 reserve fuel lately. We still tanker to certain places but not half as much as we used to. A lot of skeptics initially but so far it's been working out pretty well with minimum complaints.

Nonetheless, I would have to say that I started hoping for bad wx more often now due to extra fuel we would have to carry!
