I was reading through the old posts on this thread, and was wondering if anyone had any updates on the amount of time it takes to get off reserve/hold a line in each of the domiciles? Thanks for all the info posted here.

It sounds like it took about a week for you to get a call? Is that about right? If I may ask, what are your times? I applied a couple days ago and I'm just trying to get an idea whether or not I even have a chance. Thanks!

If you have ATP mins and no more than two or three checkride failures you should be golden (and of course, a clean background check). If you want to move the process along just call the pilot recruiter directly and tell him that you applied and are interested. His name is Scott Swanson.

You will interview in Norfolk, VA (ORF). The interview is pretty laid back but does include a brief written test and sim eval in a redbird. All they are looking for is basic instrument skills and knowledge. Questions like "decode this METAR" or "what is the MAP on this approach", not ATP written questions. More than anything they just want to see that you have a good attitude and personality and that you are trainable.

Wow... you're kidding. Way to generalize. I had 2 check ride failures early in my flight training, yet somehow managed to make it through multiple 135 and 121 rides. I must be dangerous, make sure to bid around me Mr. Yeager!

Not trying to be a DB... Sorry if it came off that way. I failed my private many years ago.
It's just that after the Colgan accident where the captain had a history of training failures I'm surprised airlines still hire folks with more than one or at most two busts. It's a potential legal liability I would assume. But I'm not in the hiring dept or the training dept so nobody asked me..... Sorry if it came across as dumb.
As to the recent weak guy I flew with? It was an anomaly. 99% of the new folks I fly with are super solid. This one was an exception.
