According to an assistant CP, the flying could technically be over at any day; as soon as Airways pays back the loan money in its entirety, they could also yank the contract. This goes for extending beyond the 2015 cliff as well as ending it prior to.

I didn't know that, so they pay off the debt then they off us? Screw this fuel savings stuff, I save them the money to pay back their debt. Its like digging my own grave.

I don't think there is any way that those are the terms of the agreement. If that were the case I'm sure they would have gotten rid of us a long time ago.

The last loan to Airways was to secure flying to the end of the leases for roughly the half of the fleet that is actually leased. It is supposed to carry us to sometime in 2017.
After that, who knows?
But I would submit that, with the financial success that our owners had with the last time they 'invested' in a merger (that being AAA/AWA), that they also are involved in the current LCC/AMR merger.
