Strictly referring only to the drugging allegations, Does it really make any sense the a Captain would just carry around "date rape" drugs with him waiting for the perfect opportunity to use them? Is the perfect opportunity to lace his 39 year old retired military FO's (whom he's never met) drink in the concierge room of the hotel in the presence of other crew members?
There's not enough local bar fly's, or other random women to attempt this on? Women that would have no idea who he is or where to find him? He does this to his F.O.? He's willing to expose himself to a potential attempted murder charge, rape charges, end his career, and face a very long prison sentence because this concierge room scenario with his F.O. is the perfect situation he's been waiting for? He's willing to gamble that she's just going to blow it off and finish the trip as normal?
It's either this scenario or she got herself absurdly drunk on an overnight. I've known a few raging alcoholics. One of them died at 42YO. Some people simply cannot control it once they go down that path. I have no idea what happened here, but there's really only two scenarios one has to choose from. One of them is decidedly more far fetched than the other.

Best post in this thread, Joe. Not so common common sense finally appears.

If she was drugged with Quaaludes, she would not have made it back to her room on her own at 2:46 am, as the statement says. She would not have unconscious vomiting as described with any of the drugs, and two glasses of wine.
What she is describing is textbook alcohol poisoning.

What he said.
Now if the samples taken from such a probable-cause DOT test still existed, they could potentially be tested later for other things (no idea what DOT policy is on retention). But as someone pointed out, roofies have a short metabolic half-life... might have been gone by dawn.

For that matter, she's his SUBORDINATE for crying out loud. Even if it was her idea it's still risky as h€ll, especially if she IS drunk. From a legal standpoint under Minnesota law, from a career standpoint, and definitely from a marital standpoint.
Do you seriously think it is "common sense" for any captain to get it on with a junior employee he barely knows on the company's time and the company's dime? Is this considered a perk of the job?
Is that truly what passes for "common sense" at Alaska?

That would be at least as plausible as the CA Roofie theory... right up until she files a lawsuit, after being released back to line. That's going to expose her to perjury charges, and detailed analysis of any evidence. The company might have known darn well she was making it up, but didn't want the optics of female pilot claiming she was raped then fired. Hypothetically, she might have got a huge free pass by muddying the waters with a fabrication, but filing suit unnecessarily draws out the angst. I think she's angry. Very angry. If she were a hard-core alky, she'd know it by now and be used to dealing with the fallout. Only teenagers act surprised at what happens above BAC 0.20

But perhaps maybe, the captain dropped 20 0.5 mg tablets in her second glass of wine, and she only passed out for a few hours. Eventually, finding her way back to her room. Considering, that would knock me out cold for 12 hours+ at my 6'1 200lbs.
Occam's razor is she over drank on an empty stomach, probably was dehydrated with low blood sugar from flying all day. I've spent the night puking in a hotel after playing flip cup for a few hours with the crew after a long day, it happens. Normally I can drink quite a bit.

I did all the research actually, you posted the side effects of Xanax ~10mg per day, straight from Merck. Problem is, the FO would absolutely know something was in her drink at that concentration.

The second part of that was people who were routinely prescribed Xanax at typical (and much smaller) dosages.
Look at the individual risk factors she had. She was female, which tripled her risk compared to a male. She had ostensibly just started it, which put her at the highest risk timeline. And she was over thirty, putting her in an age group more likely to have vomiting as a side effect.
Notwithstanding your apparent extensive experience at binge drinking and puking which you seem quite proud of, you seem to lack even a basic understanding of pharmacology.
Don't give up your day job.

Common sense? Is it common sense for the guy to try to get it on with a newbie he barely knows? Has the dude never watched Basic Instinct?

Actually, the company that originally marketed Xanax was Upjohn, not Merck.

Or were you referring to the Merck Manual? Which, no, I did not copy either of those references from.

There is nothing "common sense" about such an action at all.
