The thing to remember: At Alaska, Captains can't maintain a "no fly" list. That privilege is only extended to F/Os. The reason is the manner in which the bids are awarded. Captain bids are awarded first.

When the F/O bids are awarded if you draw a Captain on your "no fly" list you default to your next choice.

Captains are expected to be able to fly with anyone.

The no-fly list went away a couple of years ago. I'm an FO and nowadays I see my line awarded first. It takes a couple of hours for me to see a captain on my trips for the following month.

It sucks to be out of the loop. Anyway, that's how the "no fly" list USED to work.

One would think... but alas. I’ve shipped out to pick up the jet and stranded passenger for CRM/Safety issues, as above. One would hope that the problem could be nipped in the bud prior to departure where a plethora of crew are available.

“No FLy List” is a topic for a new thread.

I can't see a huge amount of conversation coming up during the preflight, but when you're flying six hours over the ocean, that's a lot of time to kill.

I would suggest that people be very careful. Their jobs could be threatened if they were reported to be the cause of a hostile workplace. No matter what one thinks, and how vehemently, it's not worth your job.

At least the guppy has a large flightdeck where you can easily avoid the other pilot in conversation..... oh wait nvm

I can easily and frequently do fly 6 hours without idle chit chat....Never have understood the need to “vomit” all over a complete stranger. Frequently never have seen or heard of the copilot before and likely will not see them again....and likely dont want to see or hear from them again either.....Layovers are to get a little rest and time away from the stranger that you are trapped like a rat with in a 6’x5’ cell for hours on end

....vomit? trapped,...never want to see/hear from your FOs again? Wow.

Something tells me your 'copilots' share your sentiments.

I wanna fly with you. I don't understand why people insist on non-stop talking and wanting to hang out on the overnight after flying together all day!

Put this in the hiring thread... Come to Alaska! We've got the loneliest crews this side of the Mississippi! Certified Slam Clickers!

Pathetic.
