Different Base pros and cons

I get those e-mails all the time for years, I wouldn’t worry about it.
I do agree that there is lots of room for improvement in our contract but there are some myths out there that I don’t think are as huge a deal as some on here make it out to be once you understand how it works. You can cherry pick bad provisions or good provisions from every airline contract and make yourself feel better or worse about your situation at-will, but if you are going to evaluate if you should come here or not you need to take the entirety of the contract into account.
As far as days off go, your day off starts at a specific time which is 4 hours after the end of your contactability perIod on your last day. Know that you can and will be used until that time. Alaska has contactability periods starting as early as 2am and as late as 6pm. Those on here proposing calendar days off probably come from airlines operating in one time zone or with operations that shut down after 11pm. If you start your zone at 6pm is it realistic to expect to be off at midnight? What about the day you come back? Should you start your zone at midnight, or do you expect to be able to be off most of your first day at work?

Hold on, did you just somehow imply that Alaska somehow operates in more timezones than Delta? HAHAHAHAHA
Wow. wow. wow.

Well I’ve read through section 25. These reserve rules are the WORST in the industry. I’m not just talking legacies here. Every regional airline and LCC has better rules. Seriously..I had better reserve rules at the past 3 regional I was at. Commuters Will be losing several more days a month with their families. The union reps here that let this slide for this many years should be ashamed.

70/30....It has been the hiring mandate for 30 years at Alaska Airlines. 70% must be local to SoCal, Seattle and Anchorage.( Portland is relatively new and was staffed by ex-QX.) Reserve rules and scheduling rules are not very important if you live in base and have good conflict language. 100% of the conflict language left on May 1st 2005. We have been asleep at the wheel ever since as our contract shows. As one of the 30% who dont fit in, it has been a long strange trip these last 20 years. All of the “No votes” have been over ridden by the “home dwellers” and we have a contract that needs to be torn down to the foundation and rebuilt....

Aren't Pilot to Pilot grabs just that? Trips between Pilots that the Company really can't touch. Big Boy rules making sure you have enough rest prior to your start of your next day of reserve to be legal to fly.....just like if you are a line holder and grab a pilot to pilot trip?
What was the name of this thread again??

Can anyone explain this one to me. I just got off the phone with scheduling to see if they could explain why I can't pick up a pilot to pilot trip if I'm on reserve? And I didn't really get a clear answer. The MOU doesn't explicitly say you CAN NOT pick up pilot to pilot trips on your days off....it just says you CAN pick up Open Time trips with scheduling approval. Scheduling said something about people trying drop their victory lap (end of trip Turn) and some of the not being enough credit. I don't understand how that effects anything if a Reservist on their day off wants to pick up turn for more $$$ ....even if it doesn't meet the daily mins. Why would a Bid block holder vs a Reservist make any difference in this case?

Why would the company want to let guys fly trips for other pilots and possibly time themselves out on reserve and why would the union care if none of them are on reserve?
The thread title is irrelevant; it's like the second law of thermodynamics but instead of entropy increasing with time it's bitterness increasing with thread length;-)
