Maybe they didn't have time to finish after days of sorting lines, 1st step trading, 2nd step trading, and regular open time got them up to a whopping 13 days off.

Probably couldn’t work the high tech internet machine... we still have pilots that are pre-flip-phone and fax in their bids.

Such an odd place.

I can sell you a Typewriter! Have you ever seen one? You can type your bid on real paper and then fax it in😂🤣

Upgrade time - it will be awhile for anyone getting hired right now no doubt. Dont even think about upgrade it is such wild speculation tha you should just presume that you will be an FO UFN. If you are happy with the FO pay scale compared to where you are now then you should go to Alaska.
I have no dog in the fight, but just a couple points of correction:

The LGB/LAX base is not shrinking. In the quarterly system bid that just closed out, it grew by 9.2% for FOs and 6.3% for captains. It is also available to new hires (for the time being), unlike JB's senior base of MCO. Not saying that growth will be sustained, but it is not shrinking and is unlikely to do so.

As far as upgrade time, this bid brought it down to 2 years 2 months. Being a three-fleet airline and having smaller jets flown by seniority list pilots should keep that figure low for the foreseeable future.

Three fleet airline? A220, are pilots in training yet on that plane?

But two year upgrades are presumably not available on a narrowbody in LGB? My understanding is that LGB upgrade is more on the scale of decades than years (for a new hire).

Soon to be essentially 4 fleets if they do in fact run the Europe stuff as a desperate category.

I believe whatever they call it, "initial cadre" have been selected and are up and running. But no, it has not been available in a system bid yet for regular line pilots. The 1st plane doesn't arrive till 2020 (I think..hard to keep track of that).
