Alaska or Jetblue?

I understand that other than some churn at the very bottom, nobody ever leaves... so seniority progression would depend on upgrades, which mostly depend on retirements (maybe there will be attrition over the next few years). I personally never applied to JB for that reason, and also due to the risk of being in the only west coast base, and a small one at that. But somebody from JB could elaborate on that better than I.
There is no conceivable difference between JB and AS which would cause me to do a transcon commute long-term, or even risk having to do one long-term.

Being a JB LGB newhire means you are willing to sacrifice not upgrading for a decade beyond when you could upgrade on the east coast. Yes, things could change, but we at JB have seen our west coast strategy decline and have lost slots in LGB overall. If you value QOL and $$$ then go to an airline that has a better west coast presence.

PBS is great when it has the right rules written in our contract! At VX it worked most of the time but some months you got crap that wasn’t explainable and if you inquired you would get some ‘mystery’ explanation on why it did that. PBS works generally really well for the top 75% of the seniority list.
However, PBS does allow you to pick “days off” that you need fairly easily.
I’ll be happy to keep Line Bidding ONLY if it removes this ridiculous requirement to pick up if you are below target time! Having Conflicts is the only reason Line Bidding has any advantage over PBS!
Those saying “you really want to give control to the company” must be living in some alternate reality because our current form of Line Bidding gives ALL control to the company...🤔

Line bidding worked great with paid trips touching vaca, training and month to month conflicts. The other airlines lost that through bankruptcy and switched to PBS. . We lost it through kasher and haven’t.

A regional that still has paid trips touching today with line bidding???
Dude - that's worth a gold mine. You probably should have stayed at that company.
What's Alaska's excuse? You got me. We just plug along, year after year, fightin the man for a slice of cheese. I'm optimistic that things might actually get better around here before I retire. I also think that this round of negotiations will last 3 to 4 years and get ugly before that happens.
The only way you get B&B to pay attention is if the metal stops moving according to their matrix. I'm not talking about a strike, which will never happen. I'm simply saying to look at the Horizon melt down of two summers ago. That's what will get B&B's attention. Until then, all is good in their AlaskasWorld.

My former regional contract was leaps and bounds better than the pile of dung that you legacy Alaska pilots call a contract that you are oh so proud of- and that was 6 years ago.

1. Actively engaged forward thinking Alaska pilots who are doing the heavy lifting and leaning forward.
2. Apathetic Alaska Pilots, who are distrustful of their union (which is understandable if you know the history), BUT, are winnable if the leadership continues along a path of transparency, strength and ethics.
3. “All about me” Alaska Pilots (just like any airline) who are disengaged, and totally good with the current contract.
Based on the contract survey.... that last group is only about 9-12% of the Alaska pilot group. So, please stop with the whole “you legacy Alaska Pilots” bs rhetoric. The vast majority want change.
If/when you run into someone who doesn’t.... let it go... they’re the minority, and not worth your time.
