All 3,000 Alaska pilots? No?

That's the problem.

Here's the big thing. I'm not mad at you for getting prime vacation days. I'm mad at you for not recognizing that the company staffs just enough days to keep the senior cadre happy, and the rest of us can go pound sand.

If they staffed better, they could afford more time off during peak travel days. But they don't. And the insiders don't care because your drunken, lawn-mowing, vacation trading network.

Also, don't flash around your 40 days of vacation like it's really 40 days. It's 25 days tops. Because this contract's build back to 75 hours minimum, you are spending 3.5 hour vacation days to cover 5.5 hour flying days. It will never be 1:1.
Either Alaska pilots are really bad at math when they signed that deal, or they enjoy lying to themselves.

22 days buys you a month. 40 buys you a lot more then 25😂

OTZ.. how many days of flying in a non vacation month? 13? 14?

14 working days = 22 vacation days. you need 3 weeks of vacation to get 2 weeks off.
Great system, bro.

You're right. I'm sure NewGuy0101 and others throwing a pity party for FINALLY getting Christmas off after 3 years will spur the boots of management to sign us a new contract.

News flash. Roughly 50% of the pilot group will work over the holiday at ALL airlines. Name me an airline that guarantees the right of pilots with X seniority or X years of service to receive 4 days off over Christmas. Lets say we get the BEST work rules with the BEST PBS and surprise! the same number of pilots will be working the holidays. These complaints make us look unprofessional and childish.

Complaining about things that no reasonable contract will solve, or boxed water - generates more replies and emotion at this airline than things that actually matter.

Look man. You lie to people on here. You tell them it's amazing when it's clearly not for so many.

You say you get 40 days of vacation, but when I reveal your lie, you evade and say it was arbitrated away. The real adult thing would be to acknowledge the shortcomings and work to improve them. But no. You'd rather tell people that things are amazing while everyone gets 12 days off and hasn't seen their kids in 2 weeks.

Your denial about the realities is an impedance to progress. I'm not as unhappy as some. I think this place has potential, but when the old timers are straight up in denial, well that's a big hurdle to overcome. And it starts with countering your BS that you spew here from time to time.
