Let's start with your biggest gripe....put a limit on circadian swaps. Maybe 2 in any rolling 6 day period or some other logical suggestion. PBS and pairing construction both have limits on swaps. It could be as simple as applying those same limits to reserves.

It’s better than no limits at all. It won’t fix it though.

A good reserve system is relevant to all not just a select few. There’s a reason it can go senior at other shops. Senior folk bid it? That creates more movement for the bottom of the list to hold lines. Or if you’re stuck at the bottom and forced to be on reserve then your QOL is better. It effects all not some.
Higher WB rates will make zero difference this negotiating cycle to anyone already on the 73.
And yeah the fact section 25 is done is deeply concerning, can’t wait to vote no on this dismal first offer.

What about the junior line holders who get awarded circadian swaps? Especially when they get unstacked? What about the pairings that start with 3 legs day one at 8 with a 22 hour layover to do a redeye the next day?

I'm no PBS guru, but it is my understanding that there are limits to how bad PBS can hurt a line holder with regard to circadian swaps, even if you are unstacked. If my understanding is incorrect, I would be happy to hear it.

Off the top of my head you have to waive less than 2 days off between trips, and 30 hours rest away from base. I can't think of any other protections (other than total days off) without digging into the contract.

keeping that in mind, it’s very obvious as to why strong WB rates will still help the senior alaska folks (even behind fences if your NC guys have any foresight).
If I was a senior alaska 737 CA, I’d be pretty grateful to Hawaiian that I got to top off my career flying to MCI and GEG for $500/hr.
