What say you for a 45 year old with 4 years in at AS. Switching to United sometime this year?

How big will the pay hit be? How long to catch up?

Would live in base in either SEA or SFO.

Probably get paid $100K year one. Break-even year two, then off to the races. That assumes you stay an FO, as opposed to grabbing an unfilled CA slot year two.

But the real benefit is long-term QOL, schedule flexibility and WB opportunity.

Of course they might announce the merger the day after you start class, that would be annoying... end up junior to yourself.

Under 50 with less than 6 years of seniority, should you stay or you go? I’d leave for the big 3, FeEx, or UPS and never look back. The pros far outweigh the cons. I should’ve left after Kasher when I had the chance. I’ve never felt this way until the recent events and I was blind. Don’t make the same mistake as I did. The culture and mindset of this uber evil and greedy management will never take a turn for the better.

It’s a no-brainer with 20 years left, I wouldn’t even think twice about it!

Live in base in SFO is the no brainer. Junior Junior Junior base with tons of opportunity to punch above your weight. For example: unfilled NB CA and WB FO slots after both of the last two bids there. 777 and 787 in SFO being offered to new hires this week.

Leaving Alaska for anyone is a no brainer

Depends on age and longevity here. Giving up seniority and starting over isn’t always cut and dry.

Jumping off of a sinking burning ship is though
