Pilot logic: JetBlue can’t buy Spirit because it would eliminate the “only” ULCC carrier. Never mind #5 carrier would still be #5 carrier after the merger. But one of the big 3 (United) buying Alaska is a done deal.

No one is buying Alaska, at least not in the foreseeable future. I’ve said this several times already, Alaska pilots are not going to be “saved” by a buyout or merger by a superior airline. It’s up to the Alaska pilots to do everything in our power to make this at least a decent place to work.

SWA buying Alaska would be pretty cool. Swa doesn’t have a big operation the PNW. Would have to kill the first class and horizon though. Never will happen, just think it would be cool is all.

You forgot about the ULCCs that will gladly fill the void: Breeze, Avelo, Connect

You're correct that there's actually relatively little overlap, other than SAN where SW + AS probably accounts for at least 70%, some of that would have to go.

Yeah…. Sorry bout that bud. Just out here flyin planes, stayin unified, letting our negotiators negotiate, not worrying about things we can’t change, makin the best of a marginal contract, not bendin metal, and enjoying our days off.
Only $25 for a DBox ticket to Top Gun Maverick. Get your mom to make ya couple sammiches and go see it again… or hang out more on the SWA or Hawaiian board. .
