If they drop that ATP written requirement, I meet all required + preferred requirements. I guess they're not quite desperate enough?

Luckily I have an ATP CTP date with a regional early Feb, which will take care of that. But I wonder if they'll ever drop that requirement.

What does it take to do an ATP written now? I’ve been an ATP since 1999 so I’m out of the loop.

You can't just go take it anymore.
"Pilots applying for an ATP certificate with a multi-engine class rating or jointly with a type rating after July 31, 2014 must satisfactorily complete an airline transport pilot certification training program (ATP-CTP) before applying for the ATP knowledge test.
