Reading what ALPA wrote and reading Will’s letter it has the same tone. -We were out-played, we were short-sighted and we took the bait. Now that we figured this out we are going to cry foul. We are going to turn this into a “do the right thing” moment and ask you to give us what we want even though a vast majority of us didnt want it before.- Seems almost childish.

Seems like most fail to remember that this takes place twice. The negotiating team didn’t get out played, the thirty are just bitter. Worst case this is what happens less than 13mos from now. There is nothing childish about any of this. The company knows they have to snap next September, to build the company, they are going to pay band this September. Maybe our management isn’t as bad as so many of you on here let on.

Why does the raise have to come in September? If they're giving us a raise outside of the provisions of our CBA, they could potentially do it anytime. It's in their best interest to delay.
Operationally, things are going fine. We made it through summer and the Airbus transition. In four weeks, the schedule pulls back for fall. Where's the emergency?
On the economy front, it looks more and more like we're headed for a soft landing, but that's not guaranteed. What manager is going to stick his/her neck out and issue an unnecessary raise three months before plowing into a recession? Why not go so slow? Wait for smoke or even fire, then pull the fire handle.
And, at some point, we will reach peak pilot shortage. I don't know when that happens, but it will happen. It's another reason to delay.
Shy makes a valid point, albeit over and over and over again. People who want to leave will leave. There are very few fence sitters. The cost to convince people to stay will be huge. It'll take base options, schedule flexibility, work rules changes, and entirely new payscale with increases everywhere. Management won't go there until they're forced by circumstances.

Not gonna happen… We will snap this year, BM will absolutely be the reason for this. None of the thirty will give him credit, they will turn their anger to our lack of bases🙄🙄🙄. It’s basic economics, most of the angry 30 are incapable of understanding this. Our management team maybe isn’t as evil as many on here protest… maybe even actually a good group, maybe even a smart group… but never as brilliant as the angry thirty geniuses on here😂

But as of right now, this just looks like a failure of contingency planning on a massive scale by the union.

Why are some of you so upset at the union, if the pay rate we negotiated, was around where the pilot polling said would be acceptable, and, also suggests it was around the rate where all the other MECs were? Our union said on multiple occasions they were all conferring closely with each other about payrates at the time.
Is there the belief that our union deliberately misled the Alaska pilot group on these points?

You called the weak snap a "strategic assumption." I call it "negligent negotiating." Whether or not that was malicious, I would say Hanlon's Razor applies.

Can you share why you think "we were outplayed, short-sighted and took the bait"? Pretty emotive language that suggests management ran rings around our NC. I happen to think that overall, they handled themselves well. Would love to get your thoughts.
