They're short on the FO side and apparently there's a surplus on the CA side. The current plan is for 24 new hires. The new planes coming in 2015 are replacing a few a/c that are getting turned back to the lessors. They expect 24 departures from VX to other carriers for 2015.
If you got a questionnaire then you're waiting for a phone call to interview, whenever that starts up again. If you don't get a phone call you'll get a TBNT email.

We are so short on FO's. Reserve coverage is red every day of the month in JFK. I thought I heard they cancelled sept classes to keep the books looking good for IPO. There is a lot of this going on, and if it helps the IPO then it's a great move, just waiting to find out.

They expected 24 for this year as well but so far only 14 left. 24 would probably be on the high side of attrition for next year. Anyway, of the 5 planes coming have you heard how many of these are 1-for-1 replacement with older ones being returned? If it's all 5 of them then that would explain the no upgrade til March '16 rumor.
Don't spread false rumors. This is not true, the 5 airplanes coming will be growth, however we have 5 planes that need D checks. So when we get a new airplane one will be pulled and sent in for a d check rinse and repeat.

I'm not trying to spread anything false. Of all people MusicPilot is a great source, everything he writes ends up being the case. I'm not discounting the possibility of a return to lessor (possibility only and not a known fact). Besides a D check takes ~ 2 months and that's not a long period of time.

First of all, there's no Heavy checks SKD for 2015. That came straight from the VP Ops mouth. Second, there's no new flying with the addition of the new planes in 2015. Once again, straight from the VP Ops mouth. That's why there's 0 upgrades until early 2016. So, the question is if this is all true, then there's gotta be some (maybe 319s) going back to the lessor and maybe adding spare planes (which we need) to the system. Once the IPO happens I believe things will change.
FWIW, it's all rumors until you see it happen. It's hard to take any of the uppers words for what the future holds. They'll say one thing to you then contradict what they said to someone else. If someone has an opinion on whats going on, then there's no reason to bust one's sac for it. It's an opinion and everyone's entitled to have one regardless if it's right or wrong.
Let's hope VX explodes out of the gates with planes, staffing and routes.
