Ahh, that's what I fear, well no harm in applying.

Does anyone know what the competitive times are? Also if Virgin is interested in Part 135 captains at all?

From a conference call to quote the CEO:

"As far as pilot hiring goes we are having no problems. We are still getting people with roughly 3000 to 4000 hours of experience so highly experienced people."

I would imagine that's pretty competitive. But as long as one has the mins of an ATP, 2,500 hrs total and 1000 turbine (SIC or PIC) then apply.

We've hired some corporate pilots so Virgin was their first airline. I heard a couple of Surf Air guys got hired here so I don't see why not. Yes we have hired 135 pilots.

Two 135 CAs in my new hire class last winter! It's a steep learning curve in terms of 121 ops, but they both did great!

Any updates on movement? APC Profile shows a 5-year upgrade in SFO, is that still realistic or have things slowed? How's life on reserve in SFO and how long is it lasting? Thanks!

I'd plan on at least a year for reserve in SFO. Reserve could be easy if you live in base because you rarely fly. It's quite common to go 3 weeks without flying. If you commute to reserve it's going to suck because you will rot away in a crashpad. I think the SFO guys may fly more than other base reserves. Movement is nonexistent.

It's not a bad job at the end of the day but don't come here expecting a lot of movement and growth or upgrade.

JFK flies even less on reserve. Like he said, if you live in base, best job ever! I'm guessing reserve will last less than a year. As with anything else in the industry, this can change in a breath. There is a lot to do in SFO and JFK around the crashpads. I'm far from rotting away. That being said the oppressive heat in NYC area during the summer can make things tough. You make friends in base and find things to get into. I like the way my future looks here, it's just not as quick of a road as others.

Got the email for the online test right as I updated my app in the window. Is that automatic now or have I been "chosen?" I'll finish up the test when I am back home with reliable internet. I'm flying the 320 overseas and life in CA or back in my old stomping grounds around NY looks pretty darn nice from here! Good luck everyone.

I believe you get the big online test as long as you meet min qualifications. If you move on from there, they email you a short, five question short-essay form that goes to the CPs for review.
