Alaska Air Hiring

I think it is important to remember that we are a very small west coast airline. We simply dont have a lot of hiring demand. A big year for us is hiring 120 or so pilots. Our current work rules/ pay scale and pay structure are such that if you want to make money you have to be at work. Keeps us very lean. Some productivity changes that allow reserves to fly on days off and everyone to work
on there vacation(all for straight time) further reduces our hiring demand. And what hiring demand we do have is often filled from the family and friends plan.....dont hold your breath

When I inquire to the BCP's about hiring and the very qualified candidate I am sponsoring...They say be patient . Interviews every month and classes every month. IMO they have many highly qualified and motivated and sponsored candidates. (recommended by current pilots). The last number I heard was 160 is the target for the year. That's a lot for us but not big numbers compared to the bigger airlines. While we are lagging in compensation compared to the new contracts at the other Airlines it is still a good place to work. I hope our upcoming contract will be very competitive. Everyone I have flown with seems to be very happy but expecting for a good pay bump when the next contract comes. Times are good here. I hope it lasts.
