PDX is VERY senior, been hearing its about 1.5-2 years to get.

Starting in mid January, indoc will be mixed AS and VX. Aircraft type and bases will be chosen in senority order. I've talked to a few guys who said they interviewed for Alaska a few months back but were told that if they get a class in January they could be assigned the airbus in JFK.
Is it true that JFK was a senior base for VA? Is this still the case?

JFK is senior for Capts and lineholder FOs. Most junior guys in VX newhire classes have been getting JFK consistently.

Lately, those new hires that got JFK but did not want to go, were able to bid out of it before sim training was over, fwiw.

Think of it as replacing day one from the old interview process.

Also, this sentiment is not going to be a popular one within any pilot group. Most of us spent time and money to attend multiple job fairs over a few years before getting the call to interview.

Of course you would rather skip this step and go straight to the actual interview; no one likes running the job fair circuit.

Your current attitude will be toxic in any interview setting.

You sound like your an advocate of the current interview process and job fairs.

Are you sure you read my comment? Because I don't think you did.

If I attended multiple job fairs, then why should I go to a meet and greet as well? What will that accomplish?

Two ways to answer you, Riverside. One is to say, "you're right" stop attending and stop updating apps because you're soooo amazing that they're already embroidering your name on a new hire jacket at AK and 2 out of 3 majors.

Or, I could tell you that its possible that you'll meet the key person who places your app at the top of the stack for an actual interview.

Sounds like you're frustrated. I get it. But suck it up (with a smile) and press on.

What it may accomplish is you being invited back for a formal interview.

The interview process is what it is and changes frequently. As for aviation conferences that have turned into job fairs completly dwarfing what the conference used to entail; no, I do not support them becoming Jon fairs or their associated cost. The organizations behind these conferences are great organizations and it would be good to see them separate from the job fair circuit.

As for free or very low cost company specific job fairs; I do support. It’s a good way to single out interview candidates from a stack of paper.

Except when you go to a job fair. Carriers call you for an interview.
But a meet and greet is fine.
