Alaska Air Hiring

This is what gets me all riled up....
So, we have no leverage! Well, let's give up then.
...here sign this crappy deal or we are going to move all the flying to Horizon. They will say that, but they won't do it. They can't do it...
Keep in mind, they don’t need to be capable to do it (I personally think if they want to do it, they can, one way or another), they really just have to scare half of the pilot group + 1, that’s it.
I don’t say give up, but I do realize that having no scope when negotiation time comes, is like bringing a knife to a gun fight. Granted we’ll bring the biggest machete and swing it around fiercely like it’s going out of style, they still have the colt at arms length, they know it.
I’m not too sure we can come into the table in 2 years with “all the leverage we want”. I commend the attitude, I’m also game for swinging for the fences and getting the pitch forks out early. But ignoring that we have no scope and acting like it makes no difference at the table is naive.

I think the AK pilots still have too many “yes Sir” pilots in their ranks. An AK pilot actually called me out about my orange lanyard. I guess some of us don’t roll over quite as easily as others over an email threat. Maybe it was an isolated incident. He was pretty young. As of now I think mgt will have no problem with 50+1 on anything. Maybe the AK pilots will prove me wrong. Just my opinion. Flame away

I’m a fairly new FO based in SEA and seem to only get used about half the time on reserve. If you can sit reserve at home it’s great in my book. I won’t be close to breaking min (79hrs) this month. But as others said, you can try and pick up from open time during your days off to make some extra.

Makes me wonder if he’s got some skin in the game...like someone he knows works at Boeing?

Oh, yes, I have quite a bit invested in Boeing so I stick up for them. Not that they need my help. Boeing lawyers do just fine on their own.

I'll ask you, do you really believe the 737 is a better product than the Airbus and if so, why?

Don't get me wrong, Boeing has a good product. But the 737 has had it's day and sure isn't more comfortable than the Airbus or c series from a passenger and pilot perspective. It's a tired old design that's been recycled too many times.
Cue the attacks on Airbus and c series.
