Good luck guys.
Curious, what's this hiring for? Net growth is just 1-2 planes over 12 months, so is this to cover retirements? Block hr increase? Or..... ?

Yes 5 next year and 4 in 2018. The 2020 decade does pick up in double digits per year. Combined VX+AS retirements for the next 10 years, 2017-2026, are approx 625.

I would love to see the combined retirements compared to the big three over the next 30 years. Anyone have data on that?

Edit: 7 for 2018.

And ~675 retirements 10 yrs 2017-2026 at combined VX/AS.

I only did 10 yrs out. Previous post from another thread:

For the next 10 years (2017-2026), the combined retirements are total 675.

675/2500 = Just 27% of the pilot group retires in the next 10 years.

In comparison over the same time frame, Delta retires 6,600 the next 10 years of a total ~13,500 which is nearly 50% - half the seniority list. United retires 4500 out of 12,500 which is almost 40% over the next 10. And American does the highest, retiring ~8,100 the next 10 yrs out of 15,300 total which means 53% of their current pilots will be gone by then.

From the company website:
"Alaska will be opening a hiring window January 5, 2017 through January 15, 2017. If you know any qualified candidates, please notify them to update their resume and submit."
Good luck everybody....

Always has been a great stepping stone job....one of the best....Even with this cluster of a merger getting underway...just dont get comfy...The only time our contract is not pathetic is when all the majors are in bankruptcy
