The assumption that change means bad is the sign of a submissive and battered pilot group. It is time to stop being victims and start getting what we need around here. You must be on the 737 because this is the exact same crap I hear from legacy AS pilots who have no prior real world airline experience (IE they came from the military or Horizon). This defeated, weak attitude is exactly how management wants you, and it is exactly why we have the absolute pile of crap we call a "CBA" right now. It is also exactly this mindset, that will cause us to fail in our attempts to actually fix things. It is time to get out of the stone age.
I’ve never had a chance to vote on anything and I’m standing here with a gas can and a pack of matches. I didn’t think it could get any worse year one and well here we are. It’s much, much worse. To be clear nothing would make me happier than burning this hole down to the ground. Even if it meant I had to look for another job. This place is so awful I wouldn’t mind starting at the bottom of the list someplace else even a regional. Also, it would give me great joy to see OTZ Eagle lose his pension. In my short time here I’ve seen things get worse every single time something changes.
I think that’s why pilots are so afraid of change here at AS. Also the company would just violate the implementation LOA when PBS was set up. A year ago they just took away vacation trading and vacation open time. It was insane. Just poof gone. I had PBS at SkyWest and it was great. But with how things are at AS it would just be used to hose us even harder than we get hosed now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

What a unifying post. Divide and Conquer seems to have worked very well, VX pitted against AS. Most of the negative posts here are ex-VX.

I’ve never touched the controls of a bus. Have met some VX pilots that I like and I’m glad they are here. Hopefully with their help we either run this hole into the ground or we get a new contract with scope. Continuing with this status quo isn’t something I’d care to do for the next 20 something years. Personally I find captains that ask me why I wouldn’t just want to do this job for free more offensive than my last post. But our priorities are probably quite different. How wrong of you to assume he is VX. Your ability to throw your former employer under the bus is unmatched.

He's a new guy, post merger. I don't know what the second part means. I'm not commenting about the employer itself.

I didn’t take his post as VX versus AS. Hell, he isn’t even VX, he’s SkyWest. The undeniable truth is that legacy AS pilots are responsible for the mess we are all in. The contract, work rules, scope, or lack there of, is the work of the legacy pilot group. It is what it is, but to deny that reality would be plain silly. But we are all under one roof now, and it’s time to get what we deserve. Most of the legacy side is ready, energized and poised to do what’s necessary to get what we all deserve. The past is done, it’s time to right history now together as one group which is exactly what we are. There is no more VX, it’s dead and gone. We are all AS and it’s time to be treated like a real airline. |
