Novice question I’m sure, but I’m a novice…if DOB determines aircraft, what determines the base you get coming out of training?

It’s the same thing. You pick base/aircraft at the same time based on seniority. If there are SEA 737 positions open you pick that when it’s your turn (based on age).

Thank you! I’m relieved to hear you have a say in what base you get. Not that you will always get what you want…

You kind of do. Company decides which vacancies to put in a class based on training back log as it relates to aircraft type. Then they decide of that type which base needs staffing. There could be 50 openings in SEA on the 737 but they may not put those in your class. They could put them in the next class and you could be Airbus based in the 320. And if you are young you get whatever is left.

If you’re young, you shouldn’t waist your time at Alaska. Right now American is handling jobs out like Candy. There’s a class every Wednesday for the unforeseeable future of 70 pilots a week. Coming to Alaska would be a waist of time and a big mistake.

Not going to defend the “swirling commode” that Alaska is at this point but the decision to pursue this job is kinda individual. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush…Can always pick up a couple types and keep on movin’. A change in status for us is not coming soon. That is iron clad

My class (November), was about 30% Horizon pilots, 50% Skywest, and the rest a mixture of backgrounds. 21 pilots total.
