I would see the only gain for united would be pilots and airframes. We here at alaska have an incredibly weak footprint for the size of our airline. One per day service to most places.Other than that it’s mostly short hops around the west coast that united already does.

yes they gain a presence Seattle back but contrary to what the angle lake folks say, Seattle is not a huge gain. It would open another door for united to Asia to compete with delta sure but uniteds focus isnt On Asia anymore thanks to covid. United is far more focused on expanding in Europe.

as for getting rid of a competitor? I don’t think alaska is putting the squeeze on anyone except maybe deltas pricing for tickets to/from Seattle. I doubt sincerely alaska even appears as a blip on the radar as a competitor for united.

i can buy a JetBlue/alaska marriage. I could buy that alaska acquires sun country/avelo. I could see a world where aa would make a play for alaska.. united or delta going after alaska? No way. Pure day dreaming of a happy ending here for us here at the quickly failing most west coast super regional

Whose 'we?'

Didn't you say you left?

I left Alaska after being there for 5 years. It was the best choice I’ve ever made. The grass really is greener. I always knew alaska treated us terribly but I didn’t quite realize just how terribly until at the new shop. Jump ship bud.

I don't fall for the personal attack bait anymore, so have at it. Yes, I have boots to lick, picket lines to cross, scab, and whatever else the internet tough crowd thinks that it is I am going to do.

I don't care if you still post about AS after leaving, but the way you post makes it look like you are here. There is no we anymore. You left in 2019, that's pre pandemic and far before this place fell apart like it has.

The writing has been on the wall that is was falling apart since late 2018 and management has had every opportunity to stop the trajectory. Covid exacerbated that rapidly. I think I was one of 40 to leave in 2019 and that number has grown substantially since then..from what I hear from my friends still there it’s already nearly 70 for this year and it’s May.

everyone has seen this coming for years..

Wait, what? You've been gone for 3 years and still post like you work here? Hahaha! It's sad enough when guys leave and continue to come back and ragepost about the company. It's like an old girlfriend you can't get over. But you've taken it to the next level and for 3 years you've been acting like you're still dating that ex. Hahaha! One would think all those that have moved on would be living that better life they went looking for and put this place far in their rearview mirror????

He still works here and is trying to hide his identity.

Great analogy! I appreciate someone giving a heads up about a crazy ex. Giving the scoop to fellow pilots is exactly what this forum is for. If you’ve got perspective to share on how a career decision has worked out for you then I, for one, am glad to hear it.

Keep on posting Ala5ka!

I have seen enough to be confident that UAL is absolutely interested in merging with AS. I believe they are currently assessing the political appetite for such a transaction. SK is about to take his last parting shot at his old employer and become the largest airline in the world.

You've basically said every airline under the sun. If I'm thinking of a number and ask you to pick a number between 1 through 10 and you rattle of 10 separate numbers within that range, you're bound to be right.
