8 yr upgrade to OAK, longer for other bases, get stagnant behind a 9,000+ pilot somewhat youngish crowd since the Airtran merger (compared to the big 3), same plane, same routes, same flying. But reset myself to reserve FO because this contract cycle at AS is prolonged?
Hard pass.
Seriously, good luck. I am happy for you if you find happiness going to SWA. I still think leaving AS for SWA in today's hiring cycle is crazy. Big 3 or bust. Or maybe Fedex/UPS. Otherwise it's just not worth it.

will be back in the right seat and upgrade will be closer to 6-6.5As a place to work, taking upgrade out of the picture, it seems Southwest is a better place for a pilot to work in every metric when compared to Alaska.
Now one could make the case given world events at the moment placing oneself at the bottom of a list is risky, but if your relatively junior here as well, why not.

Depends. So as long as CA vacancies on Boeing outpace reductions on the Bus, it should be fine.
I’m really not liking the direction we’re headed. Ukraine/Russia escalation, inflation, increased interest rates, increased chance of consumer spending slowing, and of course the never ending Covid restrictions. I just have a bad feeling for 2022/3.
