I think that is most likely the case, I’m sure they look at the projections on the price of oil, the geopolitical landscape and are reeling back their “growth” plans, which will require a different bid scenario. Of course if Putin deploys his nuclear arsenal it won’t matter anyhow.

The upgrades on narrowbodies always go deep when there are widebodies to fly. Some people just prefer the lifestyle and the hourly rate. I wouldn't think that's a sign of how bad reserve is. Just how bad domestic flying in general is.

Default Commuting

Good Morning. What is the current commuting policy at Alaska? Are there any improvements the union is seeking in negotiations? Thanks!

2 flights. During Covid ALPA had an MOU to drop that to 1 flight, that MOU "sun setted" (if that's a word) a little over 6 mo ago, so we are back to 2 flights. Hope that helps.

Don’t you have to still commute in to sit reserve for free?

I’m not sure what you’re asking here, but I’ll try to answer… You are paid for your reserve time, so you’re not sitting reserve for free. 75 hours for long call (12 hour callout), or 79 hours for short call (2 hour callout). When you would commute in would be dependent on how far you’re commuting from I suppose.

So basically I just need to have my flight to base and then 1 additional backup flight that gets me in a few hours early?

Thanks

That is our basic Commuter policy, correct. What it does not address is that most trips start early (6-8am) and end late (18-23:59) making commuting very taxing on family life since you will be lucky to get 10 full days at home unless you drop without pay protection. Just making sure you get all the details on commuting at Alaskan Airways…😉

Has anyone heard anything from the Jan Application window? Any call backs? My application status still says ‘application received’

Can't comment on the January window but I did apply in the February one that is currently open and have an interview scheduled for this month.
