Obviously, Never🙄… Pretty stupid question. Go to FDX or UPS, everyone there is happy.
Flying under our old contract at Alaska:
I drive to work every day
Work daytime hours
have a fully funded A-plan for my retirement
Have worked without furlough for 20+ years w/o scope
8/5/22 check gross for 2022 so far is 331,XXX
Dude when we get a new contract shortly, it’s gonna be even worse. This place is terrible, go somewhere else!
People at the same airlines have different careers, this is not as cut and dry as you think. There is no, one size fits all. A lot of parity is coming to this industry. Timing will always be very important. If you don’t live on the west coast though, there are way better options then Alaska Airlines for you right now. If you live in one of our bases, I bet you will be ok!

OTZ bragging about his A plan pension in a new hire thread reads as a parady. You can't make this stuff up.

Have you read the Delta, American, SW, and even United boards now on this site? They all seem just as miserable with their management & how the company is being.
Heck I chatted with a senior American captain at the airport the other day, and he was looking to bail. Said he was just miserable with the company…

Some think the grass is greener on the other side, but never look over the fence.

I can tell you this for certain and from first hand experience. Although not perfect, the grass is definitely greener at WN than it was at AS. I’m glad to see more people from AS coming over.

Work rules, maint, management, culture of company in general.. it's just not a great place to work.
Before I'm labeled as miserable, I'm not. It's a job. People have dealt with far more for far less money and been fine. Doesn't mean I can't say this place sucks and have credibility. I sleep well at night... unless I'm at work then I'm tired as hell and wishing I was anywhere else. But hey, that's only 16-17 days a month so f me right?
A contract won't fix everything, it's just a start.

I've read quite a bit. Alaska is my fourth airline. Not a lot, but a few different experiences. It's a bad place to work. It just is. Hopefully new contract helps, but still same management. If you think it's great, good for you. Wish I didn't know better.

Don’t let this guy rain on your parade. A contract will most definitely change things. The pilot group Alaska has is unified, and a very solid, and good group. Some people will just always hate work… seems to be part of the job for a few.

I'm 50. Have 22 years in (effective seniority), kids in school. Acquired not hired. No, I can't leave. If I could, believe me i'd be gone.
Coal miners hate their job too. But they get up and do it everyday anyway. I see myself in much the same way but much more fortunate/better off. Doesn't mean Alaska isn't run by morons.
