Base Seniority

YES, there are TDY's most months. NO, it's not that common for it to be the same bases/people month in and month out. It's not usually from the same bases every month. Last month (for November), they had FOs TDY from PIE for the first time in three years. If you are in IWA/VPS/PGD it's a little more common, because they are very seasonal.
Looking at the last few months of TDY bids, about half of the spots are going to people who voluntarily take them. The other half go to the unlucky junior guys in whatever bases they pull.
On the next vacancy, they are also increasing the Virtual Base by 5. That will help some as well...
Choosing not to come here because of the CHANCE of involuntary TDY is a bad decision. There are plenty of other things to worry about...
*Yes, I know there may be a couple of guys who proportionately have had more TDYs, but that's maybe 2 or 3 out of 900+ pilots. I'm speaking in general.

Not so easy. There aren’t many VPS vacancies these days. The few vacancies that have popped up have been snagged by more senior peeps. This will change once the airport expansion is complete sometime in 2021.

VPS is a tough base too. Right now they vary between 1 and 4 airplanes throughout the year. Only have 1-2 lines during the lowest months. During the peak summer the company brings in several VBD and TDY pilots so unless you are super senior there, it is not the best base for making extra.
