Too many fake accountants here with their idea that it saves the company millions on hotels. The other airlines got it all wrong, Allegiant is the only one that knows what they are doing. When those new planes come they won’t need to operate them 20 hrs per day. No, the Allegiant business middle is better than everyone else’s….

then why won’t they guarantee a % of day trips then????? Because they are going to overnights in time! Then your dream job is over
Because they dont want to tie their hands to it. Are they planning to go to overnights? No. But why would any sane business owner remove that much flexibility?

We are going to overnights. Attrition is going to double this year, the small 15 FO bases will not be able to function.

I don’t doubt management would like to try overnights, but they will quickly learn that the incompetent scheduling dept is incapable of running anything approaching a “traditional” operation with overnights. Every summer would be like southwest this past Christmas when the entire operation fell apart.

Serious question: do you really think our management could an operation with multiple overnights all across the system??

I agree. Last year when they tried the 2-3 day trips, it still was an out-and-back schedule, just in another base (LAS). They could be super successful with it, but I don’t think they can actually operate it.

Question: Im new on this site and thinking of applying at Allegiant. A few things, trying to find out what current pay is for a new FO. Th other thing that attracts me is that there is a base where I live, so not spending a day off or day prior or after to commute is attractive. I've read some different options here. BTW, I'm at AW.

Thanks in advance for any reality answers from you guys on the line.

pay is garbage, expect maybe $2500/mo after taxes.

What base are you interested in? It will make a huge difference the experience varies widely from one base to another.

as a general rule of thumb, if it’s already a base when you’re hired, getting an upgrade there is extremely unlikely for a very long time, as in double digits years, so expect to be in fo pay for a while. If you’re willing to move to a new base, things can be pretty good here, if not, it’s a matter of time until you get frustrated and leave imo

Overnights will continue to be minimal. There is no infrastructure to support RONs or multi day trips. Merlot will barf at the slightest irop, there is no hotel or crew travel ability to deal with layovers, much less outstation MX, tail routing, the list goes on and on.

Merlot is on its way out. Yes there will be problems implementing overnights but its coming regardless. Allegiant will adapt and fix the problems at some point. We can't have unpopular small bases paralyzed when 3 FO's leave at the same time.

Don't look now but they're actually investing heavy in IT.....I'm not saying they're definitely going to all overnights but I think the capability will be there whereas in the past you would have been correct....
