Not sure they are hiring CFIs at ATP mins. I think only from their partner programs. This matches what is available on our website.

Thanks, my plan is to reach out to a recruiter soon and start making connections and getting info. If they do not accept CFIs is a path regional for a bit to build turbine time then apply? Would another option be something like Ameriflight or Planesense once I am at 1000 and use that
For my last 500?

if you get your can get your ATP somewhere else they'll hire you, even if you're still waiting for OE. That's what they care about, not so much total turbine time.

Ok, what do you mean by OE?

Your first few trips after sim, which are flown with a check airman until you’re signed off. Typically 25-30 hours.

Hi everyone,

I know IWA is pretty senior, but since it's being offered to the new classes as of late, does anyone have any idea how long one could expect to be on reserve (does that even change anything)? Is it a large base? I am looking to fly as much as possible and spend the least amount of time on reserve. In which case from what I've been reading, LAS seems like the better option.

Thanks

IWA has been going to NH classes for the last couple. How long you sit reserve, is all about whether the pilots above you want a different base or growth. IWA is one of the bigger bases, but has not grown in a long time. If anything maybe shrunk a bit with Provo opening. I would say a current NH would likely be on Reserve for a while maybe even a year or more. However, with people still leaving for other bases or other, it could be quick. Upgrade unless significant growth could easily take 10-15 years.

What do you think I am trying to do? I am asking questions and trying to learn. No need to be a jerk, you have no idea what my experience is and if you don’t want to be helpful you could just stay quiet. I bet you are a real peach to work with!

Easy there killer. I think you’re taking his message a little too personal.
IOE stands for initial operating experience. After you’ve passed all your sims and have your type rating, you’ll be paired with a specially trained captain ( line check air,an) who can fly, teach, and show you the ropes. They’ll help you to make the transition from sim to the actual airplane. As was said before, you really want to complete this in about 25 hours. Then you’ll be released to the line where scheduling will try to get you 100 hours total within 90 days of your checkride, otherwise you’ll have to go back to the sim. Once released from IOE you’ll fly with normal line captains in whatever base you were awarded from training.
Hopefully this helps
