The best road to take regarding the hat issue: get a picture of every one of the management (especially MG, GB, MG) wearing the hat if it exists. Then, blow it up poster board size; good quality photo; and take it to the next negotiation meeting and place it on the table in front of the mediator. Then simply ask......"when does our 30 day cooling off period begin"!
