Don’t forget that we had roughly 100 airplanes in the total fleet before the 757’s and MD-80’s were retired so overall fleet growth has not been quite as spectacular.

Exactly! And if the company gets their way, they will be staffing 105 airplanes with the same number of pilots that it staffed 76.

That's true but don't forget that we are up 5% in departures with 11 less airplanes vs last year. Utilization will continue to increase, expect 20%+ more block hours when we get back up to our old peak number of airplanes. The used airbus market has become very competitive, but I think we will be hiring sooner than later.

Town hall said we are actively pursuing used Alitalia A320s.

No interest in further 319s or any 321s.

No hiring until 2020? Ouch! Pretty sure our last class of new hires was late 2017. Not cool at all!

I'd add... pursuing EXCLUSIVELY A320s with CFM blow-dryers. For very cheap.
Good luck...

They did mention purchasing factory new CEO's if they get the chance.

They also said they will begin looking at replacing our oldest airbuses. So these new airplanes may actually be replacements not growth. Look for the fleet to stay right around 100 jets. Hiring for attrition.

They also said “expect the fleet to grow by 10 frames a year indefinitely”. I don’t know what indefinitely is, but none of our planes are ready to be retired in the next 5 years...
