If the news management had was that huge they'd have had to update their 10k. There's no way they could keep such a huge expansion under wraps. We'd have heard something directly from them by now. Rumors that begin with "my buddy said" are always the least credible. I wonder if Maury is doing a pump and dump scheme with all this buzz to boost the stock price then retire. Now that would explain all of these rumors. Otherwise where are we going to stick 25 new airplanes? Florida is full. IWA is full. LAS is full. The small bases could maybe fly 1 more jet each. The 2-3 new bases (JQF BLV and maybe LCK or MEM) also rumored next year would be 2-3 jets each. That's still a bunch of jets without ramps to park them on.

One has to wonder what kind of quality we are going to get too. We are late to the hiring game, and pay less than the other LCCs. The sleep in your own bed every night thing isn't going to get people here for less money because it's gotten out that the company likes to TDY people out of their base for months or stick them in bases far from their homes and not open up spots in the desirable bases they want to be in. Their defecation on our contract has spread industry wide too. We will probably get a bunch of resume builders waiting for the big 4 to call or washed up disgruntled regional lifers that couldn't get hired anywhere else. I see the bottom half of our seniority list becoming a revolving door. If management was smart they would find a way to get the top half of the list to move on to other airlines. That would save them a lot of money. But then maybe thats why they have cracked down on us the last couple of years.
First, why do you always .....

Second, the company just said on last quarter's Town Hall that the goal for efficiency is 3-7 planes per base. How many two plane bases do we have now? How many of them would support four? GRR is supposed to have four by the end of the year and is going to have three in September. SRQ is supposed to have 3+ by the EOY. Two new bases at 2-3 each to start. PIE used to have 14 and is down to 8/9. Those 20+ planes get slotted pretty quickly.

Also, those rumors are from the interviews. So, are they true? I don't know. Buuuutttt, that's what representatives of the company are putting out to the new hires. Lies? Maybe, I don't know. Still better than "my buddy."

Of the guys I know that have been hired or are going to interviews (~10), all of them are prior mil pilots. Most likely far from the dregs of pilotdom.

Allegiant filed an 8K this morning for 200 million in financing. Could be for airplanes, could be for a resort. Time will tell, but yikes if they’re using airplanes as collateral for the resort that’s kinda scary.

I saw that. Seems they hawked 23 airplanes (1/4 of the fleet) to pay for something. I'd say another resort at the risk of being called a negative d-bag by some jet kid who has had 2 flying jobs in his life and never been furloughed or had 2 airlines collapse under him. When you've been around as long as I have, you pass on the kool aid and see things as they actually are. Pawning $220 million dollars worth of airplanes to buy anything except more airplanes is not good news for people who want to work for an airline. We will have to see how this story develops. It could either be really good or really bad. Let's hope its for a bunch of new jets.

Maybe I'm drunk on Kool aid, but I think they previously secured up to 1 billion for building resorts, of which they are only spending about $200 million on attempt #1.

So from the filing... "The proceeds from the loan will be used for repayment of existing debt on the subject aircraft and for general corporate purposes." So, some of it will be to pay off existing debt on aircraft (probably with better terms) and the rest for whatever they want. Doubt that it's Sunseeker Destin though, but who knows... I do know that Sunseeker II (Destin?) probably has a better shot at being awesome than Sunseeker I.

Haha, funny. FYI, I'm not a "jet kid." Neither jet nor kid. And true, I've only been at two airlines, but that doesn't preclude anyone from knowing what happened in 121 for the last 20 years. I rarely enter any endeavor without knowing full well what the pros and cons are before committing. Sorry that your timing in 121 was not super optimal. However, life is all about your REACTION to things that happen rather than what the actual events are. I know a cubic boatload of pilots your age that went through equal or worse circumstances (i.e. US Air losing pensions, DHL/Comair guys let go, etc) than you did and don't have a negative attitude about everything. That says more about you as a person than it does about the airline industry.

What exactly has the company done to you since you have worked here that leads you to believe they want to throw money away?

Default Upgrade time

Hi Guys,

Can anyone kindly shed some light on an average realistic time to upgrade at Allegiant. Also how difficult is it to hold PIE out of training? Thank you in advance. Just planning on the financial part of being an F/O.

Someone just posted all seniority information in one of the allegiant threads. I'll let you do that work. My guess is there would be a few pie spots in the next few classes.

PIE should be fairly easy to get out of training. Probably not right away but within 6 months. Upgrade will totally depend on the base. I’d say look at at least 4 years for the newer junior bases and a decade plus for bases like BLI, PIE, IWA.

BLI was specifically asked about at recent management dog-and-pony show.....no 3rd airplane for BLI any time in the foreseeable future.
