Or talk to the guys that are stuck at regionals or Emirates or wherever, trying to break into the big 3. Truth is, you guys don't know just how dang good you have it here. Yes our contract and culture both need work...news flash, EVERY airline has gone through these kinds of cycles. American will turn it around eventually... don't lose perspective, take a good look around at how good you have it, go out, fly your trip, smile a little, treat others how you want to be treated, sit back and enjoy your job at a legacy that pays right up there with the other big boys. (And never stop fighting for a better contract.)

The biggest disservice you can do to yourself and the folks around you - and it'll make you a miserable human being - is to constantly yearn for what others have instead of focusing on the great things you have.

This AA gig needs work but overall it's still a great job.

signed, counting my blessings every day.
No **** - this a million times!

Only been around for a little over a year, but holy **** this job doesn't suck.

How much do these trips pay compared to the standard 2 leg redeye?

DL buddy said the company, in trying to avoid triggering CD pay, built similar trips with mid sequence or same day all nighters.

Did you ask him what a slash trip pays there?

PHX has a lot of trips that start with a redeye, rest during the day then back to work in the afternoon. That second day looks rough if you have a hard time sleeping during the day.

The red eye LAX JFK LAX trips are like that. For example, 10 PM departure to JFK, arrive at about 6:45 AM. Then say a 7PM departure from JFK back to LAX, arriving at about 22:30 or so.

Easy, really. 26 hours total trip time with 12.45 pay. Efficient. If needed, Melatonin can work wonders to help you sleep after you arrive from your all-nighter.

That's a lot better than leaving at 1AM East Coast time when I used to do them out of Philly. I'm glad they've transitioned them away from East Coast trips to West Coast.
