98-00 was a really good year for hiring all around. There were guys at US Airways that were told they'd upgrade in a few years and that they'd have the career of a lifetime. The late 90's economy was on fire, reminds me a lot of the 2017-2018 period.
The only thing driving hiring now is retirements, back then it was growth. Overall people were a lot more optimistic because of it.
Retirements are a more consistent method for continued hiring of course but at some point I'd like to see us innovate and attract market share away from other places. It's more the opposite it feels like right now. Despite what people think, AA itself was a leader in innovation for decades.

Yeah I agree with you that it will go senior. First east coast 787 base. I’m thinking junior FO will be around 5-6,000.

You can’t swap into a different base on the same aircraft while in training if a vacancy bid is open? If it closes next week then yeah obviously no way I’d be in class in time. Or is it not a system wide bid but rather to open a new category?
