So you don't think Financials mean anything in terms of who is in better shape?? Man you're and idiot.

I said it before and I’ll say it again. You have two options, drive yourself crazy and spend everyday until Oct 1 in anxiety. Or you can get your financial house in order, single engine taxi, requests shortcuts and hope for the best. You seem to have a burning desire to see AA pilots lose their jobs and AA go under. Maybe it’s you with the issue.

This! If I have to read to another seeking alpha or above the wing blogs I’m going to be sick.

No not at all. I have lots of friends at AA, hope they all do well. I just think for anyone to believe that thinks are going to be fine short term and believe somebody like Parker is crazy. I think UAL is trying to get ahead of the game with (hopefully) worst case scenario. Its much easier to say, just kidding Sept 30th then the opposite. I think parkers route is much easier for people to take but not realistic in the least. Would bet AA, UAL and Delta all furlough 2-3k come October 1st.

we are 1300 over staffed after being chronically understaffed. If Covid had not hit we would have been a *******show with our lack of staffing. You add in the fact that we went ahead bought out senior guys and will probably buy out more and we may not furlough pilots. Every airline is a bad place right now and everyone knows it but we weren’t all in the same place starting out. You and delta seemed to be trying to get ahead or retirements we were just trying to keep up. If we furlough no one we are like 15+ percent smaller then we started 2020.

Okay well Parker’s approach is obviously counting on demand returning faster than what Kirby is planning on. We’ll know in October who was right. I don’t think you can make an argument right now that Kirby is more right than Parker based on these silly Seeking Alpha and other bloggers. So in the mean time chill out, do your job to your best abilities. Watch your spending. Get that resume updated, and hopefully in six months we can all still have our jobs and be on fast track to a full recovery.

why is GPullR all over the AA forum? He should just keep to spreading his everyone is effed message in the UAL pages, we have plenty of our own guys/gals to do that here. Do I like/agree with everything that Parker has done here? Hell no, but I appreciate the approach that he and APA have done so far in trying to lessen the blow that is sure to come over the next year or two. Call me gullible or whatever but I think they are really trying to minimize the amount of furloughs the best they can, but at the end of the day it’s all about demand returning and if it can’t be reasonably modeled to do so there will be furloughs everywhere. Getting 800 some people to retire early helps I think which could be a lifesaver for someone near the bottom, he could be just jealous that UAL hasn’t had the same success with their LOA type programs, who knows?

While AA may be hurting because of higher debt, the staffing hit could be different for each airline. First, AA has had more early retirements and has more retirements overall. Next, DAL and to an even greater extent UAL had more international flying than AA. All three are cutting more international than domestic for the next couple of years for obvious reasons. International flying requires more pilots, especially the Asia flying which typically requires 4-pilot crews for each flight. UAL had the biggest Asia presence of the three, AA the least. Yes each airline might go into bankruptcy eventually with AA leading the way, but for now it makes sense that AA would have less furloughs than the others, even if we just lucked into it.

Same.

With the big Airbus lease prices coming due in 3022, I get the sense that AA has no choice but to plan as if revenue completely returns next summer. Anything less/ would mean bankruptcy anyway, so full steam ahead until then in hopes of a more V-shaped reconvery..

Hope I’m wrong and it works out for everybody.
