At the risk of unintentionally being an even bigger dick just how am I supposed to stand united? I saw where someone put together a website for crew to share business contacts but other than networking and encouraging each other just what am I supposed to do to be united with other furloughed pilots.

I kinda thought dropping a little encouragement that being willing to expand a skill set could open up other opportunities was a good thing. I guess I was just bragging and being a dick. Sure didn’t intend for it to come across that way. But whatever. Stressful times for us all.

Not if they agree to resign.

Thank you for literally reiterating my point exactly....

Fair. Intent doesn’t always come across of forums well and I most likely read more into then I should have. I was referring to don’t make people feel worse then they already do. I don’t think you did it intentionally it happens. I think right now people are just raw and so it leads to snappy reactions. That said people will figure it out. My comment about being united right now really is watch out for each other. As I said sometimes just listening is all that is needed.

For what it’s worth, word from past guys who have gone thru this.... send letter of resignation to CP, who then takes it says “got it” and turns around to throw in trash. Your part is done an keep recall.

I have heard that as well. I hope it’s true.

I thought someone said JB has this in writing that a resignation will not be accepted until recall.

For AA there is no good reason for them to accept it. They know it is under duress most of the time and if you say no when they offer they move on. That said if you come back it is cheaper to rehire you then go find someone off the street.

Yeah. I’d just call the CP and tell him to can my resignation letter anyway.

If true, you might consider getting this in writing. Not to rehash old wars, but after a previous merger, our benevolent new leaders mandated that anyone from OUR group who was furloughed and had one of these “resignation- wink, wink” letters on file be removed from the seniority list.
