I probably missed that part, but it still evens out. If every other month you credit 80 hours it comes out to 40 a month. With zero time and picking up enough trips you can get to 40 as well. Or more depending on how much open time there is.
How much open time will there be? Plus what about a junior reserve pilot? Are they able to hold these zero time lines and pick up open time? This also pits pilots vs pilots when we have people picking up open time while having pilots furloughed out on the street. |

Each pilot who is awarded a Zero Line shall reduce the number of furloughed pilots on a one-for-one basis; however, a pilot who would otherwise be involuntarily furloughed may not reduce a furlough for another pilot who is also subject to involuntary furlough. As a result of pilots who would otherwise be involuntarily furloughed being awarded a Zero Line, more senior pilots who did not request a Zero Line may be furloughed even though more junior pilots who requested for and were awarded a Zero Line are not furloughed.
so am I wrong or did we just agree to let them furlough OUT of seniority order?!!! |

I think with the combination of the LOA’s we have a decent shot at saving the planned furloughs. No denying the VELOA is a total joke to those without the A fund. Those pilots who have all that cash sitting there are ready to pull the trigger and are specifically targeted in this, as most are widebody pilots. And if they don’t take advantage of this golden ticket opportunity, they will have screwed the pooch big time.
The alternating months and zero time options are pretty good if you have another source of income, want an great QOL, or both. The “conditional bid” option is nice (for the bottom 2500) too as it is a safety net. But, a safety net you need to read the fine print on. There are a few interesting caveats tucked away. While initially I was extremely disappointed in the summary. After I read it all tho, it seems like it was a unique approach without any concessions from us. The company couldn’t really get too radical with pilot group offer vs. all the other working groups as there would be an uproar. I do feel the VPLOA pilots really made out like bandits as that program, along with the VSTLOA program wrap up (they both end with the CARES Act expiration). |

Huh? What if I want to drop my trips (maybe even to zero time line guys) and ride the MU list? And end up with 55 hours instead of my awarded 75? I wouldn’t use the S word for that. Jesus people. Semantics. One way or another picking up open time or putting yourself on the MU list would directly take away potential hours from pilots who are making zero. I would like to believe that "unity" would prevent that from happening, but I know better. So it needs to be discouraged somehow.
