I don’t think anyone really disagrees about the state of the industry, potential for bankruptcy, or whatever else. It’s the “but hey, it won’t affect me because xxx!” qualifier you see on APC from some of these guys. At best it’s tone deaf, at worst it’s a troll designed to get people worked up, which is a db move at a time when people are scared. But yeah I know - it’s APC - I shouldn’t be surprised.

Yeah, this is what gets me. He is much more tactful in his presentation if Debbie downer material, unlike doggie poo, but there’s nothing I can do about our financials, so I don’t really care too much about all those “we are going to bk court first” post, who gives a fuch? I do take issue with everyone who has a great side gig, or will be just fine if this job disappears. I’ve always been skeptical of this bs, why the hell are you here if you have so many other things lined up? You just want to be an rj driver cause you have a little spare time? Gmafb, you probably need this job more than you’d like to admit, but I really don’t care about that either. Now back to the best Father’s Day tradition, day drinking and *****ing about dangerous millennials.

The best part of this job is that it is essentially a part time gig with a good paycheck. Of course I need this job like everyone else. I’m not saying that. But if I wasn’t able to fly airplanes for a living (or for a few years) we will ultimately be okay. Having other income streams and plans of action for many of the outcomes (including a worst case scenario) helps alleviate the stress. Hope is not a course of action.

Others will disagree, but I personally think it’s bad form to talk about your own personal finances over the net or with someone in person you barely know. I’m not interested and if I wanted to know I would of asked.

We all have to accept the fact that we have to live with this virus around, just like the flu. It is a fact that the mortality rate is way lower. Can you imagine a world where people stop living because of the flu? The media doesn’t help being so alarmist.

People forget that we shut down the country not because people were dying, but because hospital, government, infrastructure, etc were not equipment to handle thousands of people getting sick so quickly. We are past that, plenty of ventilators, etc, so there is really no reason to stop living normally. Of course be more cautious, mask, hand sanitizer, among other things.

What would actually happen if bankruptcy occurs.

From reading "hard landing" I learned that executives in the 80s liked bankruptcy because it allowed them to escape ornerous labor agreements, hire scabs to replace everyone, and then emerge leaner and ready to make money. Apparently this isn't the same today, it has changed somehow to be much less attractive and have a much bigger tax on the company than back then. I'm not sure how.

Is there going to be a tipping point where everyone wants to file for chapter 11 just to be first? Or is this the sort of thing where you want to be the last one? AA has a ton of debt but the terms aren't really too bad are they... How much better would the debt be if it was restructured under the best possible realistic terms?

Also, nobody is talking about what it would look like if one of the big three liquidated. They say this is unlikely because who would be there to buy all the assets and pay off the debt. So the best option for the bondholders is to see us through this until there is a vaccine and return to profitability.

Any chance they are going to shut down the training center again? Wonder how bad that would be for us.
