Naw, I don’t do short bidding. I’m a buy diversified and hold sort of guy. But there are plenty of people taking your advice. The short float on AAL is over 12%, versus under 3% for DAL and under 5% for UAL.

Can always buy put contracts if you’re into options trading….. Added bonus, your downside is finite vs. actually shorting a stock.

His glass is always half empty... I think he's a "puts" type person.

Nope. Buy and hold. Minimizes short term capital gains taxed at a higher rate. Gotta consider tax consequences. Always.

Trade in a retirement brokerage account. Problem solved.

That’s already maxed out with other investments. But you are right to keep an eye on what sort of taxes your investment returns generate. It ain’t just what you make, it’s what you get to keep after taxes. Tax advantaged investments are great. And seeing unrealized capital gains continue to grow in growth stocks is one of the reasons buy and hold is a good deal.

The ad hominem’s mainly focus on how strange it is that you seem obsessed with AA’s ****tyness. I peruse all the other airline forums to keep up with OAL’s, but I try not to chuck bombs and spears. It’s just weird, or troll like at the very least, and begs the question, why the obsession? Is there a back story?

We have a retired pilot on our internal forum who is a miserable person (not saying you are, you seem fine to me). He just posts absolutely toxic negative **** every day, borderline evil stuff sometimes. It’s strange, I wonder what his story is, what his family thinks of him.

1. I didn’t start the thread. But the issue of the thread is potential for AA bankruptcy. What information would anyone expect to be posted here?
2. I don’t chuck bombs or spears unless I am personally and unfairly attacked.
3. I’ve said repeatedly that I don’t fault the pilots or the management. It’s mostly a timing thing.
4. None of us anticipated COVID, but we got it anyway.
5. None of us wanted an 8-9% inflation rate, but here we are.
5. But COVID and inflation DID happen, and there are consequences from that.
6. I post facts, facts relevant to the topic of the thread. I don’t make them up, they just are. I would expect those potentially affected by those relevant facts to be more worried about understanding them than fantasizing about me, but that’s just my opinion.
7. Your concern, sympathy, or disdain is probably more appropriate for those who are unable to deal with the facts than it is with worrying about me.
8. Have a nice night.
