I almost question if you fly at AA.
Seriously, if I even say I am doing a flaps 40 landing or no autobrakes or Autobrakes 3 or changing the cruise speed from .78 to .79 or .79 to .78 or I don't want them extending the line in the box (I can do that as PF with the AP on) or loading an approach on the ground in LGA for a flight to DFW when I am the flying pilot or I point out that asking for a new TPS for 24K instead of 22K is stupid because the N1 will still be the same due to a higher AT or etc, etc these guys act like you just ****ed in their cheerios and they get all stressed out/insulted. Many of these things I just do and make statements that I am just doing it and have learned to not ask "permission" but I can not imagine how many Captains would stroke out if I did what you are saying. Literally stroke out during the descent. Not all of them but enough of them that it isn't worth the hassle of them ****ting themselves from 10K to landing because I cant tell who is of like mind over in that left seat since I just met them. I have yet to see a CPT do it in 4 years so I doubt there are any of like mind. I just want to get through a sequence with no issues in the cockpit and go home.

Ah, you're on the 737. So we kinda do work for a different airline! I kid, I kid.
Actually, I imagine it's worse for guys that want to turn stuff off on the Airbus. Bid it and come fly with me.

Getting ready to flow in the next month or two. Trying to see if there is any new updates with the 737 v 320 MIA debate. I’ll be living in base and wondering which one to bid to get the best QOL and most nights at home. I was also wondering what the trips look like for each equipment. I’ve heard 737 has more 1 or 2 day trips and less red eyes. Also better overnights on the 737.

I’m MIA based and have flown both planes as FO and Captain. In all honesty, I’d bid the Bus in your situation. All else is basically equal. Yes, I’ve heard the 737 has more Caribbean layovers than the Bus, but in the grand scheme of things, so what?

I started dec 8 and I’m MIA 320 in already a line holder at 54% in base. The bus has expanded in MIA since I started here. I flew the 737 at another carrier and miss the flying part, but the bus is comfy and has its quirks with the automation. I think the 737 is easier to fly and more forgiving, but anything over 2 hours in the millennium falcon sucks. Seniority wise on the 737 I’d be 75% so not worth moving over. I’ll stay on the French connection till I can upgrade onto the most junior plane in MIA which right now is the 737 for CAs.

I’ll be heading over at the end of August. Has the seniority been moving pretty good still or is it starting to stagnate. I’m hoping to enjoy sitting on reserve at home on the bus out of MIA. What do the trips look like? Turns, 2 days, 4 days? A lot of red eye transcon flying ?
