How long to hold either LAX or PHX if on the 320 and LAX if 73? (This is almost related to class drops)

Any hope to hold a line on either plane in a west coast base in a reasonable time?

How are the reserve rules in general? Any flexibility on RAPs? What about time to at least hold LC reserve?

Appreciate your help. I know things are “do NOT come to American” right now but long term AA has bases where I have family and I do not want to commute.

LAX shows up in class drops more frequently. PHX takes guys anywhere from 6 mos to a year (as of now) to be awarded it during a vacancy run.

PHX 320 FO Junior LH: Mar 2022 hire
LAX 320 FO Junior LH: July 2022 hire
LAX 737 FO Junior LH: June 2022 hire

Reserve rules are ok. Of course, we want better, hence negotiations, hence lots of saltiness on here about AA. Some good, some bad, just like everywhere. You bid for your RAPs if you're on SC, awarded by seniority. You can usually get LC within 2 months of being on the line. You can also bid for RAPs as a LC guy voluntarily and if awarded, you get a little extra pay.

Balance what you want and needs. AAL was my #1 and I love it. Sure, things need work and the contract needs to get better, but of course, no one wants to be on a bankruptcy contract. I bid reserve, live in base, and am gone on avg 6 nights a month. I'm still relatively junior, get the schedule I want, weekends off, etc. Avg 55ish hrs/mo. If you have any questions PM me. Good luck.

You’re going to hold a line quicker than any time in our history. Took me 4 years to get to 70% FO in CLT, takes 6 to 9 months for an FO in DFW to hit that (don’t know about CLT). Point is the movement is fast right now.

He’s right took me a year to get 50% in base. Upgrade on the 737 should drop under 2 years by end of summer.

I hit 75% in MIA before I even touched an airplane. 2 months of LC and should have a line for March. This month on LC was a breeze. Only 4 nights away from home, all 22 hour layover in Punta Cana, Nassau in Baha Mar, and Bogota. So far going to 16.5 days off this month probably end up 17-18 off. Life isn’t bad… I enjoy it here and cancelled my Delta interview for the second time this January and don’t regret it.
