You are seat locked for six months as a new hire, but they can withhold you to make it a year. This means that if they are conducting new hire training and upgrades to the point that they can't accommodate you (likely), you will be awarded what you bid but will have to wait until the year is up for it to actually go into effect. It's basically a year seat lock, effectively.

It’s actually 18 months if you don’t get your preferred aircraft in indoc. I couldn’t get the AB until my 6 month seat lock was up, and then from the award date it’s another 12 months. Unless you get lucky and they only withhold you for the minimum amount of time (6 months), which we’re not seeing on the NB side right now.

I can't imagine how painful it must be to be under 30 and at your 2nd career destination. The horror of flying the gasp 737 gasp for 2 whole years. My condolences. I will say a prayer for you tonight you poor soul.

Also don’t expect DFW right away, but according to everyone it should be doable within 6-8 months.
