The "backed" up part is just an excuse to keep CA flows at the Regionals for a little longer during the summer rush. Yes, training wait times have increased a bit but they are no where near the length they were last year. However, to be fair they did not start increasing class sizes to above 45 until after the June announcement.

Last year it was 8 to 10 weeks in Spring and increased from there as the year went on. Yes, they are increasing again but the sole reason they stopped classes for a whole month, and not just part of it or in-between two months is because if there is a single class within a month then the company must take flows. The CA shortage is killing AA's regional feed (same with everybody else).

6ish weeks is completely normal. You get time off after Indoc, and then time to finish the CBT's (which you are paid for on top of guarantee), and time to study for aircraft training.

Upper 20’s is kind of the limit depending on how many non-LGA slots there are. The more non-LGA the more junior the bus (in LGA) will go. If you’re in your mid 20’s you’re probably going to be stuck on the 737 for 18 months or so. Basically you want to see a ton of Miami slots in your class drop. That or get lucky and end up in a class with the largest number of pilots living in or around ORD and BOS as possible.

It’s completely dependent on your class and drop. I was in a class of 45, with only 18 AB slots I believe. I’m 30 and there were only 737 slots left when the bid got to me. I finally got awarded PHX 320 but I’m withheld and I’ll be commuting until the middle of next year. Withholds can be up to a max of 12 months and you should expect to be withheld the max time right now.
