Why? If it can be traded away for passive gains like better sick leave and vacation and pay rates then why not just barter it away for things the entire group will benefit from without doing anything.
Why should the membership want a system you have to “work at” that requires gamesmanship and a Microsoft excel spreadsheet so you can keep up with your “strategy”.
The only people who want it believe they benefit disproportional and “earn it”.

I think the company likes IMAX. It encourages imax pilots to pick up trips for straight time instead of opting for premium, thus cutting down in the number of premium trips awarded. The company gets numerous smaller broken up trips covered at straight time. It’s great for them. Then they know at least half the pilots who have time off due to imax, will be there to save the day if they need open trips covered.
company likes imax, but they pretend they don’t like it so they can leverage us during negotiations. Of course APA falls for it and decides it’s a priority to protect a system that only benefits a super minority of our pilots. By doing this they also accept lower credit for vacation, sick and more, which harms the overwhelming majority. Nothing at APA ever makes sense.

not saying 18 hour LC won’t cause them to use SCs more, but DL lowered the maximum number of involuntary monthly SCs from 7 to 6 in our contract and got pay over guarantee for each unused conversion.

What percent of pilots commute: @30%, some say 40%
What percent of pilots use sick time: close to 100%
What percent of pilots sell back or use vacation: 100%
What percent of pilots actually IMAX: 3%. I have heard the highest number of pilots to actually IMAX in a given year is 400. 13,500 pilots. 3%
What percent of pilots get stuck in IMAX hell where you limited to a low month: No idea but I bet it is around 3% also.
I would trade that IMAX crap away ASAP

Yes, but it would suck to be converted 6 times in one month. I’ve never been converted twice in one month here (knock on wood).

How does it work the month that you fly then? Do you credit like 120-130 hours in a month flying a bunch as a de facto reserve and then get ALV for doing nothing the following month?

No. IMAX is a credit game not a flying game. It’s strategic use of credit to build up PROJ. And by being smart you can get anywhere from 1-4 months off PAID!! These people who want to “trade it away” don’t understand it because there really isn’t anything to trade away. IMAX is a concept not a tangible thing.
