"APA Board Votes against proceeding with APA-ALPA merger negotiations" - of course they did.

After their own committee unanimously recommended to go forward? That’s some interesting logic.

Have a union, but don't want it anymore, or want a different one?

Under certain circumstances, you can vote out or "decertify" your union, or replace it with a different union. At least 30% of your coworkers must sign cards or a petition asking the NLRB to conduct an election. Unless a majority of the votes cast in the election are in favor of union representation, the union will be decertified. Such elections are barred, however, for one year following the union's certification by the NLRB. Plus, if your employer and union reach a collective-bargaining agreement, you cannot ask for a decertification election (or an election to bring in another union) during the first three years of that agreement, except during a 30-day "window period." That period begins 90 days and ends 60 days before the agreement expires (120 and 90 days if your employer is a healthcare institution). After a collective-bargaining agreement passes the three-year mark or expires, you may ask for an election to decertify your union or to vote in another union at any time"

If you vote "Yes" for this contract, not only are you voting Yes for the contract, but you're voting "Yes" for continued representation by the APA.

The quoted article is for the NLRA.

It’s perfectly fine to rage against the machine, but make sure of your facts first.

Yes exactly, acting like we lose all of that money when in reality it would be allocated to us just as a pot of ALPA money. The DFW reps voted NO and were never even elected. They want to hold onto their little fiefdom.

Default An Opportunity Squandered

The APA BOD will vote on this June 1+2... this week. Call your reps and let them know you are in support of moving forward with merging with ALPA.

Important: know that this merger process WILL NOT affect the current AIP/TA.

Spread the word and call your reps. Tell them to vote yes. As we have seen in this current sub-par AIP, APA as an independent union does not have the resources or structure to negotiate a Delta ALPA-like contract. We need to band together to be stronger to defend this next contract and negotiate a better one in the next section 6.
The APA BOD does not want to let the pilots have a say in their futures and careers at American Airlines. Watch the clip on an opportunity squandered below, you can signup for updates on the merger process and request a free lanyard here
