AA Pilots for ALPA
Any new hires or pilots considering American please note that there is an active grassroots movement to join back with ALPA. On June 1, 2023, The APA union BOD ignored the unanimous approval to move to phase 2 of the merger process. This came after the AAMEC they chose to see what a merger agreement would look like between APA and ALPA said there would be no impact to current contract negotiations. The APA BOD is not acting on behalf of pilots. Please come to American with your eyes wide open. Please share with your fellow pilots that there is change trying to happen from within. If you’re new please share with your new hire group chats. Anyone already at American can tell you more if you ask. The pilots of American want to raise the industry and the old wAAys aren’t cutting it anymore. We are doing what we can, but many other carriers and pilots may not know what’s happening. I am sure they used the new house in Washington DC to package all the envelopes! Im sure Captain Benton would be proud!
And to think that APA wants to raise dues on its members as a way of justifying their work to deliver us a contract that is not even equal to delta in pay, much less in time off and Qual. of life.
But dont worry, they are forming a new committee to find ways to improve APA, who in the world believes that will do anything if they failed to listen to their own committee's unanimous recommendation regarding ALPA. Who can make this stuff up?

You can’t just claim that the BOD isn’t acting on the behalf of the pilots because a loud relentless minority didn’t get their way. Most people here don’t want to go to ALPA, which is why you’re not getting the support you need and are now resorting to recruiting potential new hires, or anyone even considering AA for your cause. The planet doesn’t revolve around you pro ALPA people.
Or you saying those who didn't participate in the survey are automatic no voters? Which you can't do. Let's say this AIP/TA passes 67/33 yes with 53% participation. Do we then say 47% of the people who couldn't be bothered to vote are no voters thus the contract is not actually passed?
If this actually went to membership vote and the majority voted it down( no matter the amount of apathetic people) I could at least respect that.
I don't respect trying to lump the ones that didn't participate in the survey as no voters as justification for stopping ALPA merger talks to move to Phase 2.
Now same time it is just as unfair to say 67% are for it. 67% are for looking into it. It doesn't mean everyone in that 67% will be for it after all is said was done and the details worked out.
It should have gone to Phase 2 to actually work out what a merger would look like. Then sent out to the membership to vote on. Then we can get into if the majority of the pilot group wants ALPA or wants to stay with APA. Everything else right now is twisting data to suit their argument.

Most? Where is that data?

That is not enough interest to pursue the matter any further and it was killed. You’re trying to make the case that if there was a vote held, that the completely disinterested 47% would vote in the affirmative for your resolution? Talk about making a leap!
And how can you not understand the difference between a ratification vote on a TA put out by our collective bargaining agent, and a survey put out by a vocal separatist group within our pilot ranks?

Remarkably you have it exactly backwards. The party proposing a resolution is the one responsible for gathering support and interest. 47% of this pilot group showed zero interest by not voting. A third of those who did vote said adamantly NO, and the rest said they’re interested in exploring an ALPA merger.

I am not trying to make a case the 47% who couldn't be bothered to vote would vote in the affirmative. I will make the case they lost any chance to have their voice heard.
The apathetic should not be dictating direction no matter the issue. Maybe they will learn to actually get involved, participate, etc if things were moving in the direction they disagreed with.

Then my example with the contract vote should be held to the same standard. If only 53% participate once voting closes with a 67%/33% yes vote, the 47% who couldn't be bothered to vote are lumped into the no votes and the contract doesn't pass as they prefer the current contract over the proposed contract.

The survey was commissioned by the union...... Not by this group for ALPA.

I’d say move on but I know you won’t. You guys aren’t happy with the result so you’re going to keep pushing your anti APA garbage.
