and yes, I do feel that people can get up and walk away from a job when things take a turn for the worse. I quit my last two jobs, both at around one year, because I was no longer happy there. I also have lived my life from the financial perspective of never go into debt (I only have a mortgage- and even that’s a bitter pill to swallow), and put enough money away to be able to walk away from anywhere for a year. I realize that most people don’t plan that way- to live their lives in order to be able to walk away from anything. But some people do.

so… you’re saying it was more beneficial to stay than leave. Finally something positive about this place.

This thread is for class drops! New Hires please do not listen to these pilots who have hijack the thread. My god I think I lost 300 IQ points just reading through these post to find the next class drop. To those who hijacked this thread at no point in your rants did you have a coherent thought, everyone who has had to sift through these rants is dumber because of you we award you no cool guy points and may god have mercy on your soul.

ImSoSuss is pointing at a reality from what I'm seeing. Comparing flying in my bid status YoY and the number of pilots YoY, its clear that May will have ~13% less pilots for a greater amount of flying (I dont remember the % but its 5-7%?). So if we got more efficient, great. But it is more work for less pilots, if I am looking at the data right. Therefore that's more value per pilot. Also, if OAL's contract provisions necessitated more pilots (and more flying?) that's data we should study. Whoever represents us. We hurt ourselves by sh*tting on eachother and not arguing the specific items for improvement.

Heard directly from a CKA today that classes are supposed to resume after the summer. Heard from an executive recently that no aircraft are being retired, only growth.
Retirements + growth + no retirements + running out of reserves in multiple bases multiple days while not even in the summer = no way they can afford to pause for a year. I don’t buy it. (With the way things stand right now, at least)

Doesn't make much sense. If anything, they'd stop hiring until early 2026 as it takes 2-3 months to get the noobs spun up and on the line, in time for spring block hour increases.
And no one knows what the future will bring, covid showed you can go from full bore hiring to furlough to full bore hiring quickly.
