Terms? I doubt ALPA would care to treat it like a merger. AA would join under the existing, established structure, and would then by virtue of their not-insignificant constituency be able to attempt to make any changes.
I suppose allocation of current APA financial resources might be open to discussion, ie how much reverts to APA members vs. war chest for new ALPA MEC. I don't know how much if any ALPA National would want in the national kitty.

ALPA even referred to it as a merger in the announcemen. But practically speaking, I seriously doubt ALPA at large will be making any significant structural changes, other than the obvious representation appropriate for a large legacy. Ie ALPA HQ isn't moving to Dallas.
Of course that has to be agreeable to all concerned.

As for the use of the word merger, it's standard in past mergers because that's what it is. Two separate entities coming together and merging membership, assets and liabilities. As for the name, I don't care what the final entity is called. I would be fine with APA just as much as ALPA. They are just letters. It's the membership that makes the union and I believe that with AA pilots, the merged union would be that much more influential and able to advocate and make changes that affect all pilots.

Not sure how it's relevant but my parents had sex in the 70s.
Lack of seniority movement makes life miserable for at least 90% of the list. I have sympathy for those whose pensions were lost but there is a limit to how long I'm willing to let them fill dump trucks with money before demanding my turn. I suspect those coming up behind me feel the same way. I think making the entire career a Ponzi scheme was a horrendous mistake of our forebears but since that's what they chose the time at the top has to be limited.
In my age bracket full social security doesn't come until age 70 (yes, I know that isn't the term they use) so I will have to bridge that. Fortunately there are many options.
I do find it disappointing that the option to go to the engineer's seat is gone. It was wonderful to have a highly experienced former captain back there and it required eating a little humble pie so it was only chosen by those who needed the money the most. It might have even provided an example of why prudent financial planning is wise. Maybe we'll come up with something similar in the future. I would be in favor of that.

Second question, what is your definition of "humble pie"? Provide a short general resume of your dessert menu experience.

Thought some of you might be interested to know ALPA national just announced the second dues refund in 2 years. The refund will result in an effective dues rate of right at 1.6% for 2024. FWIW, the 2023 effective dues rate (after dues refund) was about 1.55%. Plus, at least at DL, the MEC also returned a smaller portion of its surplus to its pilots last year - no word yet on whether they will do so again this year.
Either way you choose, good luck.

I’ve been told it will fall to around 1% overall if AA joins. Probably correct with the added number of pilots.

The merger agreement will hopefully negate all the pro arguments and be the best of both worlds. Much depends on how serious both parties are to make this work or if someone wants to sabotage it. We'll see in about a year is my guess.

It's setup to fail. Many outs for the board to go, " Nah not sending this to the members, done for 30 years" to needing >50% of the whole pilot group when non-contract participation is lucky to get 20% participation, etc. So it doesn't matter if 90% that bothered to vote said go ALPA, if it was only 49% of the pilot group, it fails and again done for 30 years.
Between the barriers and the level of apathy within our ranks, I have little hope in this getting anywhere or settling the matter.
