I tend to agree. It should easily attract 50%. I'd also argue that a very loud 10% shouldn't get to decide anything for all of us even the apathetic.
I continue to hope they will give us a best of both worlds deal. Otherwise they are really wasting a ton of our money. I appreciate the dues holiday though.

A lot of things get decided for you if you don’t bother to vote. Want to stay APA? VOTE. We shouldn’t stay APA just because you can’t bother to vote that way while those engaged say go ALPA.
Of course there is the other way of making sure a loud minority doesn’t dictate things either, but our representatives have been elected with <20% of the group. So either way a loud minority could very well be dictating our direction here. Not just for ALPA, but S6 as well as the BOD steers the direction.

Apparently we had a rash of pilots all of a sudden go out on LTD when the improved terms came into effect this last contract. Go figure 🙄
That's a no from me Dawg. Im not going to subsidize that ridiculousness. Cancelling when the new terms come into effect Jan 2026.

If you believe a previous APA president, the bulk of the reason is for a large "increase in utilization" beginning in 2020 and continuing through to today.
Per their post:
Meanwhile there is a lynch mob coming for the half dozen women who file due to pregnancy...
APA and the company has had a storied history with disability. Post-9/11 the company with the help of APA went on a jihad against pilots it deemed as tricking the system and filing illegitimate claims.
Per their post:
But the vast majority of claims fall into the "musculoskeletal/connective tissue", "mental" and "injury" categories (the "injury" category also includes alcoholism claims)

Watching the presentation, the majority of the reps seem to think those pilots leaving because of the increase will be offset by those joining. I think this is flat out wrong.
The math doesn’t math for anyone who is healthy and not looking for early retirement. Bottom line, the program now is needing healthy younger pilots to subsidize payments to other pilots who are out on leave.
Nope. I’ll self insure and invest the money myself.

I never opted in to begin with and definitely won't know. To increase the monthly benefit by 1.01% while the monthly premium goes up 122% points to an level of incompetence that is (nearly) unfathomable. Also hilarious it took outside consultants to point out this issue.

the PMA plan never made sense to me financially, unless you had no, real deal, emergency fund and had a lot of expenses. Back in the day, with the old LTD plan, and living paycheck to paycheck, is the only reason IMO
